Shivalik Bimetal Controls Ltd.

Shivalik Bimetal Controls Ltd. is an organisation very precise in nature, producing bimetal controls. The project was unique and demanding for three reasons: the land available was on very steep downhill slopes; the spans had to be exceptionally large to suit the machinery layout and production process; and the floor loading was extraordinarily high, with forklift trucks moving metal coils on every floor.

The challenge was to create the base and floors for the foundations by cutting and filling the terrain and providing retaining walls to hold the hill — resolving an industrial programme into a crisp, terraced composition of stone, glass and aluminium that steps down the slope.
